Notice Your Surroundings

Have you noticed anything unusual that you can turn into an idea?

Shortly following World War II, Percy Spencer was touring a lab at the Raytheon Company. When he stopped in front of a magnetron – the power tube that drives a radar set – he felt a strange sensation in his chest and noticed the chocolate bar in his pocket had begun to melt. Spencer got some unpopped popcorn, held it next to the magnetron, and watched as the kernels popped! Following this simple experiment, Raytheon developed the microwave oven, the first of which weighed 750 pounds and stood more than five feet tall.
