Do What You Love

What do you love that you could make better?

The years Mark Thatcher spent as a Colorado River guide taught him that there was no good footwear for traveling in water: tennis shoes never dried and thongs slid off his feet. In 1982, he added a nylon ankle strap to a standard thong with a thick rubber sole, called his new sport sandals Tevas® (Hebrew for nature), and started selling them out of the trunk of his car. He patented the idea and sold 200 pairs his first year, but interest grew rapidly, causing his passion for the Colorado River to make a mark on the fashion and sport world.
